General Withdrawal Policy

Authors are generally not permitted to withdraw a manuscript once it has been submitted to or published by JLC, except where there are compelling and justifiable reasons. A withdrawal request may be considered by the editorial office based on the circumstances presented by the authors and the stage of the publication process.

Why Withdrawal Is Restricted

The editorial evaluation and peer-review of a manuscript require significant contributions from editors, reviewers, authors, and publishing staff. Unjustified withdrawal may therefore result in the waste of valuable scholarly resources and may disrupt the journal's editorial workflow. Authors are encouraged to carefully consider their decision before submitting a manuscript to JLC.

Withdrawal Request Procedure

Submit a Formal Request

Authors who wish to withdraw their manuscript must submit a formal withdrawal request to the JLC editorial office, explaining the reason for the request.

Complete the Withdrawal Form

The author must complete the official Article Withdrawal Form provided by the editorial office.

Author Authorization

The withdrawal form should be signed by all authors or, where appropriate, by the corresponding author on behalf of the authors.

Wait for Official Confirmation

Authors must not assume that a manuscript has been withdrawn until they receive official confirmation from the JLC editorial office.

When Withdrawal May Be Considered

A withdrawal request may be considered when the authors provide compelling and legitimate reasons that justify removing the manuscript from the publication process or, where applicable, from the published record. The final decision rests with the editorial office and will take into account the manuscript's publication status, the circumstances of the request, and applicable publication-ethics principles.

Ethical Considerations

It is unethical to withdraw a submitted or published manuscript from JLC for the purpose of publishing the same manuscript in another journal, particularly when the manuscript has already entered the review or publication process. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscript is not simultaneously submitted, under review, or committed for publication elsewhere. Such practices may undermine the integrity of the peer-review process and unnecessarily consume editorial and reviewer resources.
