Plagiarism Policy
Journal of Legal Contemplation (JLC) is committed to maintaining academic integrity by ensuring that all published manuscripts are original, properly attributed, and free from any form of plagiarism. Any violation of publication ethics will be treated seriously in accordance with scholarly publishing standards.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is defined as the use of another author’s ideas, text, data, or work without proper acknowledgment. It includes, but is not limited to:
Direct Plagiarism – Verbatim copying of text without citation.
Self-Plagiarism – Republishing previously published work without disclosure or justification.
Mosaic Plagiarism – Combining copied phrases or ideas without proper attribution.
Inadequate Citation – Failure to properly credit sources of text, figures, tables, or data.
Data Manipulation – Fabrication or falsification of research data or results.
Screening and Detection
All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening using similarity detection tools such as Turnitin or iThenticate. Manuscripts exceeding a similarity threshold of approximately <20% (excluding references, quotations, and properly cited content) may be returned for revision or rejected at editorial discretion.
Consequences of Misconduct
If plagiarism is identified at any stage of the editorial process, the following actions may be taken:
✔ Manuscripts may be rejected before publication, and authors may be restricted from future submissions.
✔ Published articles may be retracted with an official retraction notice.
✔ Severe cases may be reported to the author’s institution or relevant research ethics body.
Author Responsibilities
Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that their manuscript is original and properly referenced. Any use of copyrighted material, including figures, tables, or extensive quotations, must be accompanied by written permission from the copyright holder and appropriate attribution.
Ethical Publishing Commitment
The journal follows internationally recognized publication ethics principles and expects all stakeholders-authors, editors, and reviewers-to uphold integrity in research dissemination. Originality, transparency, and proper citation practices are essential to maintaining scholarly credibility.
By submitting to the Journal of Legal Contemplation (JLC), authors acknowledge that their manuscript will undergo plagiarism screening and agree to comply with the journal’s ethical publication standards.
