The Cognitia : International Engineering Journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity by ensuring that all published works are original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism. Any form of plagiarism is considered a serious ethical violation and will not be tolerated.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism can take various forms, including:
Direct Plagiarism – Copying text verbatim without proper citation.
Self-Plagiarism – Republishing previously published work without appropriate citation or justification.
Mosaic Plagiarism – Paraphrasing source material without proper attribution.
Inadequate Citation – Failing to properly credit text, figures, or data.
Fabrication and Falsification – Manipulating research data or findings dishonestly.
Plagiarism Detection and Prevention
Cognitia : International Engineering Journal screens all submitted manuscripts using detection software such as Turnitin or iThenticate. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20% (excluding references and properly cited content) may be returned for revision or rejected outright.
⚠️ Similarity Threshold: A similarity index above 20% may require revision or result in rejection, subject to editorial assessment.
Consequences of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is identified at any stage—before or after publication—the following actions may be taken:
If detected before publication, the manuscript may be immediately rejected, and the author may be barred from submitting future work to CIEJ.
If detected after publication, the article may be retracted, and a formal retraction notice will be issued.
In cases of severe plagiarism, CIEJ may report the violation to the author’s affiliated institution and funding agencies.
Author Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscript is original, properly cited, and does not infringe on any copyrights. If a manuscript includes previously published material—such as figures, tables, or extended quotations-the author must obtain written permission from the copyright holder and provide proper attribution.

Cognitia : International Engineering Journal adheres to the ethical guidelines set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expects all authors, editors, and reviewers to uphold ethical research and publication practices.
By submitting a manuscript to CIEJ, authors acknowledge that their work will be screened for plagiarism and agree to comply with the journal’s plagiarism policy.
