Publication Ethics

Journal of Economics and Management Technologies (JEMTECH), with registered number ISSN 3090-1669 (Online), is a peer-reviewed journal, available online and published three times a year. This statement sets out the ethical principles and responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, editorial board members, peer reviewers, and the publisher, Candela Edutech Indonesia. JEMTECH follows recognized principles of publication ethics and responsible scholarly publishing, including the core principles promoted by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

01  Duties of Editors

✓ Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication

Editors shall ensure that manuscripts are handled in accordance with established principles of publication ethics. Editorial decisions should be based on the academic quality, originality, significance, relevance, and validity of the manuscript, without discrimination or improper influence.

✓ Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief and editors are responsible for making publication decisions based on the scholarly merit of submitted manuscripts, peer-review reports, journal policies, and applicable legal and ethical requirements. Editors may consult reviewers, editorial board members, or other qualified experts when appropriate. Decisions should not be influenced by commercial interests, personal relationships, or the identity or affiliations of authors.

✓ Fair Play and Non-Discrimination

Manuscripts shall be evaluated solely on their intellectual and scholarly content. Editors shall not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, institutional affiliation, or political philosophy of the authors.

✓ Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must keep submitted manuscripts and related information confidential. Information concerning a manuscript may only be shared with the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher as appropriate and as required for the editorial process.

✓ Conflicts of Interest

Editors shall disclose any potential conflict of interest and should recuse themselves from handling a manuscript when a conflict could affect, or reasonably appear to affect, editorial judgment.

✓ Integrity of the Scholarly Record

Editors shall respond appropriately to suspected plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, authorship disputes, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and other forms of publication misconduct. Where necessary, the journal may issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions in accordance with applicable ethical standards.

02  Duties of Reviewers

✓ Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists editors in making informed editorial decisions and provides authors with constructive feedback that may improve the quality, clarity, and rigor of their work.

✓ Qualification and Promptness

Reviewers should accept an invitation only when they have appropriate expertise and can complete the review within the agreed timeframe. Reviewers who are unable to provide a timely or qualified review should promptly notify the editor and decline the invitation.

✓ Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not disclose, share, copy, retain, or use unpublished information from a manuscript for personal or professional advantage.

✓ Objectivity and Constructive Review

Reviews should be objective, constructive, and supported by clear scholarly arguments. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate. Reviewers should distinguish between substantive scientific concerns and editorial or stylistic recommendations.

✓ Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited and notify the editor of substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and other published work of which they are aware.

✓ Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers must disclose any personal, professional, financial, collaborative, competitive, or institutional relationship that could create a conflict of interest. When a significant conflict exists, the reviewer should decline the assignment.

03  Duties of Authors

✓ Reporting Standards

Authors of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed and provide an objective discussion of its significance. Data, methods, results, and sources should be reported accurately and with sufficient detail to permit appropriate evaluation and, where feasible, replication.

✓ Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must submit original work and appropriately acknowledge or cite the ideas, words, data, images, and other contributions of others. Plagiarism, including substantial unattributed reuse of one's own previously published work, is unacceptable.

✓ Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Manuscripts should not substantially duplicate previously published work unless the relationship is transparently disclosed and justified.

✓ Acknowledgement of Sources

Authors should properly acknowledge all sources that have influenced the reported research and cite publications that are directly relevant to the work.

✓ Authorship and Contributions

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the research and who have participated sufficiently in the preparation or critical review of the manuscript. All listed authors should approve the final version and agree to its submission. Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be appropriately acknowledged.

✓ Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest and Funding

Authors must disclose financial, professional, institutional, or other relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation. All relevant sources of financial and material support should be disclosed.

✓ Fundamental Errors in Published Work

When authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they should promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate with the journal in correcting or, where necessary, retracting the article.

04  Use of Artificial Intelligence and AI-Assisted Technologies

JEMTECH recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI), including generative AI and large language models (LLMs), may be used as an assistive technology in scholarly work. However, the use of AI must remain transparent, responsible, and subject to human oversight and accountability.

✓ AI Is Not an Author

AI tools, chatbots, and generative AI systems cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and accountability of all submitted content.

✓ Disclosure of AI Use by Authors

Authors must disclose the use of AI-assisted technologies when such tools materially contribute to manuscript preparation, content generation, analysis, coding, data processing, tables, figures, or other substantive aspects of the work. The disclosure should identify the tool used and explain its purpose and extent of use. AI-generated content must be carefully checked and verified by the authors.

✓ Accuracy, Originality, and Attribution

Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy of AI-assisted content, references, quotations, data, images, and interpretations. AI-generated material must not be used to fabricate data, references, results, or evidence. Appropriate attribution and citation of original sources remain the responsibility of the authors.

✓ AI Use by Reviewers and Editors

Reviewers and editors must not upload submitted manuscripts, confidential review materials, or unpublished information into AI systems unless the journal has explicitly permitted such use and confidentiality can be adequately assured. Any permitted use of AI during peer review should be disclosed to the journal, and the reviewer or editor remains responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of the resulting work.

✓ Editorial Responsibility

JEMTECH may request clarification or disclosure concerning the use of AI-assisted technologies when necessary to assess transparency, originality, confidentiality, and research integrity. Undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI may be addressed under the journal's publication ethics and research integrity procedures.

05  Duties of the Publisher

As the publisher of JEMTECH, Candela Edutech Indonesia is committed to supporting the editors, reviewers, and authors in maintaining high standards of publication ethics and research integrity. The publisher shall provide appropriate infrastructure and support for the journal's editorial and publishing operations.

The publisher supports open access to scholarly research and ensures that published articles are made available under the journal's stated Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

The publisher works with the editorial team to address suspected publication misconduct, corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, and other matters affecting the integrity of the scholarly record. Editorial independence shall be respected, and commercial interests shall not determine editorial decisions.

06  Responsibilities of the Scientific Community

The broader scientific community plays an important role in maintaining the credibility, transparency, and integrity of research in economics, management, technology, and related fields. Researchers, institutions, funding agencies, and academic societies are encouraged to promote responsible research practices, transparency, collaboration, and respect for established standards of scholarly conduct.

Researchers should practice responsible citation, avoid redundant or duplicate publication, promote reproducibility where feasible, and ensure that research data and methods are reported transparently. Members of the scientific community are also encouraged to report suspected research or publication misconduct through appropriate institutional or journal channels.
